The last Freedom class ship finally sets sail. Independence of the Seas, a part of the largest cruise ship class, made her maiden voyage in May 2008. Sh is the first Freedom class ship to be homeported in the Medateranien. The ship boasts a full size shopping mall, a surf simulator, on board water park, an ice skating rink, and much more. Although she is the largest cruise ship-class now, in December 2009, she will be surpassed by Oasis of the Seas, and later on Allure of the Seas. This new class of ship, the Genesis class is an even newer, more innovated class of ship, but a rumored Japanese ship, Princess Kaguya, will be much larger than Genesis. Another chapter of Royal Caribbean has been closed.
The Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas will be introduced in late 2009 and will the be largest and most innovative cruise ship in the industry. The Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas will span 16 decks, encompass 220,000 gross tons and carry an amazing 5,400 cruise passengers. The Oasis of the Seas will sail from her home port of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and embark on Caribbean Cruise itineraries. A sister ship, Allure of the Seas, will be expected to sail in 2010
